Regional Developments

Turkey to use national currency in trade with Russia: Turkey to import 30,000 tons of high-protein wheat from Russia using Russian rubles for first time, says SovEko analytical center. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had earlier announced that Turkey would increase the use of national currencies in its trade with major trading partners such as Russia.

Russian Officials Confirm: S-300 Surface-to-air Missile System Reached Syria: Russia has delivered an S-300 surface-to-air missile system to Syria, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin during a meeting broadcasted by a Russian TV. Russia had already announced it would supply the anti-aircraft missiles after Syrian forces responding to an Israeli airstrike on September 17 mistakenly shot down a Russian military reconnaissance plane, killing all 15 people on board.

Turkey, Kuwait sign military cooperation agreement for 2019: Turkey and Kuwait have signed a joint defense plan for 2019 aimed at enhancing military cooperation between the two countries, Kuwait's official KUNA news agency reported. The arrangement calls for the exchange of experience and know-how with a view to enhancing military coordination.

 DRK, as an advance precautionary initiative, develops emergency procedures and practices, including the transportation/travel/escape routes and safe havens for your company personnel and assets during the emergency cases.


 

DRK’s Approach to Emergency Event

An emergency event is defined as a serious unwanted occurrence that has significant consequences to the company’s operations, staff, and the physical and social environment in which the company is operating and/or the company’s reputation. It includes but is not limited to:

  • Emergency situation affecting the company employees, hired personnel, expatriated family members and/or facilities
    • Fire or explosion
    • Acute illness, injury or death
    • Serious transport accident (car, plane, train, ship)
    • Missing person
    • Arrest
    • Evacuation from facility
    • Damage to structures
    • …breakage with serious consequences on human life
    • Major spill of hazardous chemical

 

  • Primarily security threat
    • Kidnapping, hijacking
    • Terrorism or specific threat of terrorism against assets or personnel
    • Serious criminal acts or threat against Company XYZ personnel

 

  • Partial or full evacuation from geographical area
    • War, civil war, large scale revolt, or similar situation
    • Earth quake
    • Flooding impacting on local community

 

In addition, other situations may occur where the emergency organisation, or parts of it, must mobilise.

 

Threat levels and associated response

  • Green = Low level of threat
  • Blue = Moderate level of threat
  • Yellow = Substantial level of threat
  • Orange = Severe level of threat
  • Red = Critical level of threat

Decisions on response to changes in the threat level are made by the line management. The Company’s Country Head has authority to decide about response applicable to Company’s activities in the country where operated. Recommended response at each level of threat

  • State Green, situation does not require specific precautions
  • State Blue, situation where normal operation is still possible, but an increased security monitoring and precaution is recommended,
  • State Yellow, situation where normal operations are affected and where all non-essential personnel, visitors and families of expatriates are evacuated,
  • State Orange, situation where all operations are ceased, all but essential skeleton staff are evacuated, and classified Company documentation are either removed or destroyed,
  • State Red, situation where remaining skeleton staffs are evacuated.
