Introduction

DRK has completed a wide range and long-term analysis regarding the possible repercussions of Turkish Army’s Afrin Operation for the corporations conducting business operations in Turkey by specifically taking into account the “time” dimension of the operation. Thus, DRK considers that a precisely planned sequence of the operations, properly aligned with the diplomatic engagements, is a necessity for overcoming the long-term security concerns of Turkey including the internal clashes with PKK. Corporations which are potential to conduct business operations in Turkey should definitely keep in mind that this duration until mid-2019 will constitute the culminating period regarding the overall security environment in Turkey. As such, due attention should be paid for the continuity of planned and ongoing business operations in a secure manner as to be minimally effected by the collateral damages and possible direct, indirect adversities. Please contact DRK (contact@drk-risksecurity.com) to acquire this helpful analysis which depicts the main considerations of security.

Turkey 'explicitly' asks Greece to refrain from tension: Ankara has "explicitly" told Greece that refraining from tensions would be "better" for bilateral ties, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on Wednesday. "Recently, there have been some violations during this tension, which started with Kardak rocks, to which we gave a response," Yildirim said. “Aegean Sea should be used "efficiently" for the welfare of both, Turkey and Greece.” He added. On Jan. 28, the Turkish Coast Guard blocked Greece’s Defense Minister Panos Kammenos from approaching a pair of Turkish islets in the Aegean. Coast guard officers warned Kammenos, who was heading to the Kardak islets in an assault boat to lay a wreath there. Following the warning, the Greek boat left Turkey’s territorial waters.

Security or Resilience

In the last 20 years, the globalization made an enormous impact on the Business practices. The power of industrial know-how and emerging markets in the developing countries led to a paradigm change that diminished the effect of the location in doing business. Many companies invested in the countries which are more sensitive to many risks. Accordingly, the newly emerging business practices drove the companies to encounter the complex security problems such as terrorism, organized crime, information security, asymmetric and networked attacks.

This fact showed the ineffectiveness of the traditional security concepts to deal with these complex security problems and expanded the portfolio of the security risks as well as forced corporate security to align with the business.  Since the security risks and operating practices became interdependent, the new security concept must encompass a spectrum ranging from the basic security problems to the complex cyber threats, business continuity planning, and reputation management. In this regard, the organizations should transform the focus of the corporate security function from a “security-centric one” into a “resilience-centric one.” The security branch should operate in a way that helps the company to take risks rather than eliminate them.

Based on its vision and security philosophy, DRK can help the organizations in the transformation efforts of their security concept and understanding to meet complex and diverse security challenges.
